Quizzes and the Like

What’s in a question?

If my balls are black and blue and yours are red and yellow – what game are we playing?

Want to find out the answer? Then why not pop along to a CRUK quiz?

Combining questions, rivalry and the odd brain reviving beverage, our popular quizzes provide a great – and informative night out! Catering to all needs, pop, sport, film & tv and for those know-it-all’s – the amazing general knowledge quiz! Think you can beat our resident quiz master? Then what are you waiting for? Bring along friends and colleagues to join in the fun! Or, ever wondered who the office brain box was? As with all our other events, we also run corporate quiz evenings! And of course there’s always our yearly Capital Quiz Challenge to test those little grey cells too!

City of London Friends of Cancer Research quizzes have proved to be extremely successful over the years, generating much interest and money for the charity. Some of the quizzes are now even so popular we even have to split them over two nights and offer some as invitation only – confirmation of what a great night out they are!

For further information about our quizzes, please click on the links or contact our Maestro and MC Peter Inwood.

And for those of you who were wondering…

The answer is croquet!

**NOTE** Since the start of 2007 our quizzes have been held at the Poet in Middlesex Street, right on the border of The Square Mile (but technically in E1). Not only is this venue very convenient for Liverpool Street Station, but it also provides good food and a selection of brain reviving refreshments.

Apart from these there will be other quizzes from time to time which will be publicised here. Elsewhere on this page you will find details of the previous "Capital Quiz Challenge"  which recently, in recognition of our pre-eminence in staging quiz evenings, we took over from Cancer Research UK itself. Have a look, see the fun we had and make a note to point this out to your company's big cheeses in time for next year's event!

Quizzes, in common with all our events, can also be run as corporate evenings. Contact us for more details, or click here for pictures of recent corporate events.

From the Chairman’s Desk

We call it GK2008 but what it means to you is that the City of London Friends of Cancer Research UK annual General Knowledge Quiz is back!

The details are....

Date: Tuesday 11th November 2008

Place: The Poet, Middlesex St, E1
Time: 18.20 prompt (note – no mini quiz this year it’ll be straight into the main event)

We're well aware that people have trains to catch at the other end of the evening, so we will be aiming to finish before 21.30 as we usually do.

Our quizzes have become very popular, which is great. However, bearing that in mind, we hope you will appreciate that we will be adhering firmly to the entry rules, namely....

- You MUST reserve a place by emailing geoffreyjtaylor@aol.com, in order to avoid disappointment. For now, that's all you need to do.

- Having reserved your place, you MUST send your entry form & fee to the address on the form within 10 days to guarantee your place, or it may be released if somebody else is waiting. The entry form can be found here or you may have received it in your e-mail.

Now, one final thing that would be a great help to us. Whether or not you are interested in coming along to our quiz, we would really appreciate it if you could think of 3 friends who might be interested in our events & then forward this note on to them. Thanks.

It promises to be a great evening and as always, we look forward to seeing you there. Now all I have to do is write a quiz!!
