(Founded 1989)
It is with great pleasure that I can announce that following the abseil weekend in
early May 2008, the City of London Friends’ Group has now raised over £500,000 for
Cancer Research UK. As Chairman of the Group for 18 of our 19 years I am so proud
of our volunteers, past and present who have contributed to this amazing achievement.
Special thanks must go to the officers who have served on the main Committee and
to all our sub-

The great Chris Barrie compering the Capital Quiz Challenge three times.
The first Spring Ball.
Treasure Hunting in the pouring rain and in the searing heat (good old British Summer) and a corporate Treasure Hunt where nearly every team finished in the pitch dark.

and most recently…….
Collecting a cheque in a building site in London Wall
It has been fantastically rewarding staging these events and putting so many smiles on so many faces, not to mention the lives that we have saved with the funds we have raised. In our first year we raised a princely £2,000 whereas in our most recent completed financial year we raised over £93,000. In the current year we confidently expect to surpass this sum and set a new record. Given a fair wind we can realistically look forward to passing the one million mark within 4 or 5 years. Truly remarkable!
This incredible success is all thanks to our volunteers and supporters – half a million thanks to all of you!
