    2009

    14th August 2009 at the Stoke-by-Nayland club.

Pictures below

The 20th Insuarance Charity Golf Day took place at the Stoke by Nayland Club on Friday 14th August 2009. The weather was absolutely perfect for golf with very little breeze and a pleasant temperature. The sun made regular albeit sometimes brief appearances and both courses were in tip-top condition.

Scoring was impressive with the Team Scrambles being won with an impressively low net score for the 9 hole competition (played over holes 10-18 on Constable but competed for by all teams taking part including those playing all 18 holes) and a net score of 56.6 for the 18 hole competition. The winning teams are listed below. One achievement that should be recorded is that Jeff Bright's nearest pin on the 3rd Gainsborough was actually a hole in one, the third time a hole in one has been scored during the 20 years of our golf day

The Individual Stableford was particularly competitive with 3 players all scoring 40 points over 18 holes. Again the prizewinners are listed below for both the 18 and 9 hole competitions which was played over the Gainsborough course (the 9 hole competition being played over holes 10-18).

This day takes many months of preparation and the Golf Committee (Mike Taylor, Paul Sandfield, Geoff Taylor and Adrian Ault) worked very hard to secure a high turnout of 38 teams, a fabulous prize table and a very smooth running day. They would like to thank the on-the-day support they received
from Ian Giles, Lesley Taylor, Chloe Taylor, Lara Driver and Hannah Driver.

At the Prize giving speeches were given by Lucy Squance, Head of London Fundraising for Cancer Research UK and John Harkin, Global Head of Software for principal event supporters Xchanging who said that he felt it was a privilege for his company to support the Golf Day in aid of such a worthy cause.

The Committee would like to record their gratitude to the principle event supporters Xchanging and to UIB for their kind contribution. Also to Newman Martin and Buchan for supplying the main raffle prize.

Thank you to all who took part and helped us to raise £
13,581.10 for Cancer
Research UK.
